What is Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD)
The lymphatic system is a network of vessels, lymph nodes and organs that runs throughout the body, working alongside your circulatory system.
It collects excess fluid, proteins, cellular waste and other substances from the tissues and transports them through lymphatic vessels to lymph nodes, where unwanted material can be filtered and processed.
The lymph is then returned to the bloodstream. The Lymphatic system is found millimeters below the surface of the skin and nodes are found throughout the body, including in the neck, armpits, chest, abdomen and groin, creating an extensive drainage network.
A MLD treatment is a gentle, rhythmic massage technique designed to encourage the natural movement of lymph fluid through the lymphatic system. Unlike traditional massage, MLD uses light, controlled movements rather than deep pressure; it is a gentle and relaxing treatment and is not designed to manipulate muscles or provide deep tissue work.

What to expect in your appointment
What to expect in your appointment
Upon your arrival Vicky will have a full catch up and conversation with you, together you will go through your consultation form, clarify anything that needs to be discussed and go through the treatment you will be receiving.
Vicky will advise you what items of clothes you'll need to remove and direct you how to position yourself on the bed before leaving the room to allow you to get settled.
Upon returning Vicky will get you settled. If it is the cooler months you can expect a cozy heated bed, weighted blanket and cozy pillow to get settled on. The warmer months will have a sarongs of sheets to cover you up and tuck you in.
The treatment itself is slow, methodical and calming. There is no rushing here and no pressure used. You can choose to switch off with the lights down low or chit chat away.
This treatment can be tailored to yourself.
Once Vicky is finished she will exit the room and allow you to slowly get up and redress.
Afterwards you may see and feel a difference, depending on what you came in for, or you may not see much at all due to this just being your first treatment.
This is a treatment where you should expect to have a few sessions for maximum benefits, we recommend between 4-6 sessions.

2 hour Appointment:
A comprehensive MLD treatment for clients who need treatment across multiple areas of the body.
This may be suitable for more widespread swelling or oedema, lymphatic conditions affecting several areas, or where a longer appointment is needed to work through multiple areas of concern.
Your treatment will be fully tailored to your individual needs and reviewed as you progress.

45min Appointment:
Ideal for localised swelling or post-operative swelling affecting one specific area.
For example, this may be suitable following a knee replacement, where treatment is focused primarily on the affected leg, knee and surrounding area rather than the whole body.
You may not need both legs, or a full front and back treatment. Your appointment will be tailored to the area and issue being treated.

75min Appointment:
Ideal for more widespread or persistent swelling, including swelling following an injury, lymphoedema, or when more than one area needs to be treated.
The additional time allows for treatment across multiple areas and is particularly useful where swelling is more extensive or has been present for longer.
Your treatment will be tailored to your individual needs and reviewed as you progress.

🍃 Block Book 6 Session
A course of 6 targeted MLD treatments, designed for clients who may benefit from ongoing treatment for swelling or oedema.
The course includes 6 x 45-minute MLD appointments at a discounted price of £270 (saving £30 compared with booking individually).
Your first appointment is booked online. Your remaining 5 appointments will be arranged with me during your treatment, allowing us to review your progress and agree the most appropriate timing for each session.
If a longer 75-minute treatment is needed during your course, this can be arranged for an additional £25 per appointment.
Please note: a course of treatment will only be recommended where appropriate following your initial assessment.
